One-hour data-media fire protection that holds 125°F interior
Built for IT managers, photographers, and records keepers, the Hollon HDS-1000E Data Media Safe from the Hollon Data Safes series shields hard drives, tapes, USB media, and CDs that fail above 125°F. It delivers one full hour of fire protection rated to 1850°F externally while keeping the interior at or below 125°F, and guards against sprinklers, water, and humidity. The cabinet is imported and secured by an S&G UL-listed Type 1 electronic lock.
At 36.5 inches high, 23.63 inches wide, and 21 inches deep, the HDS-1000E is the largest electronic model in the line, weighing 535 pounds for stay-put stability. Its interior measures 25 by 12.75 by 9.25 inches and includes two removable shelves, giving you organized vertical storage for media trays, drives, and backup cartridges.
Engineering & Security
- S&G UL-listed Type 1 electronic lock: The Sargent & Greenleaf digital lock is a UL-listed Type 1 unit, giving you fast, repeatable code entry without a dial.
- 535-pound body: Heavy steel construction at 535 pounds resists casual removal and keeps the safe planted during day-to-day use.
- Sealed against water and humidity: Internal seals defend stored media against sprinkler discharge, standing water, and ambient humidity that can corrode drives.
- No center bolt-down hole: Hollon omits a floor bolt hole on this model to preserve the moisture and fire seal protecting the interior.
- Not burglary-rated: By design this is a data media fire safe and carries no UL burglary tier; pair it with a B-rated safe if theft is a concern.
Fire Protection & Interior
- One-hour 125°F interior rating: The insulation holds the interior at or below 125°F for a full hour, the threshold above which magnetic and electronic media degrade.
- 1850°F external fire exposure: Hollon rates the cabinet to survive a 1850°F external fire, matching common one-hour furnace test conditions for data safes.
- Two removable shelves: Two adjustable shelves organize drives, tapes, and trays while letting you reconfigure the bay for taller items.
- 25-inch interior height: The 25 by 12.75 by 9.25-inch cavity stacks more backup media than the smaller HDS-500E and HDS-750E cabinets.
Ideal Buyer & Use Cases
The HDS-1000E suits businesses and serious archivists protecting irreplaceable digital media from fire, water, and humidity. At 36.5 by 23.63 by 21 inches and 535 pounds, it is the top of the Hollon electronic data line.
If you need less capacity, step down to the HDS-750E (same electronic lock, smaller body) or the compact HDS-500E. Buyers who prefer a mechanical dial can choose the matching HDS-1000C, which shares this cabinet with an S&G Group II combination lock.
